It was a picture-perfect day Thursday as the Husker Harvest Days grounds were abuzz with activity in preparation for the three-day show that starts Tuesday.
Show Manager Matt Jungmann could only hope that such ideal weather conditions would extend through the coming week (The National Weather Service in Hastings is forecasting sunny conditions Tuesday with highs in the mid-70s, but a chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday).
But Husker Harvest Days' 31st year of operation at its location six miles west of Grand Island didn't get off to a good start this year as heavy rains, hail and strong winds damaged both crops and infrastructure on the 900-plus-acre show grounds. READ MORE HERE
